The 2012 Spring Home Show was timed perfectly for us as we were able to talk with all the local big company builders. Their options for our needs were few and the quality again was questionable.
Our realtor, Nancy Nolan, suggested we meet with Harry Ferris of Ferris Building & Design, a custom builder that she referred to as “just the best,” with no comparison to the folks we had been talking to. From the first meeting with Harry, Carol and I both felt we had found our builder. We were a little nervous with the idea working with a custom builder. Harry assured us that he could not build us the cheapest home, but what he promised was a quality home that both builder and owner would be proud of.
Soon we found the perfect ½ acre lot in Terrebonne. We met with Harry and gave him a simple floor plan drawing, a copy of the building restriction for the community and of course our budget concerns. Within two weeks Harry had drawn up our house plan, researched utilities, permits, etc. and presented us with a budget.
The bank soon let us know that I dream in technicolor. (Carol had tried to warn me). Banks, it seems, see things in black and white. Again Harry came through for us and we were able to make a few adjustments and got things back on tract.
As soon as the house was started it was evident that quality and craftsmanship came first. In every phase of the build we felt we were getting the best possible material and workmanship. Our home was built on time, on budget and on schedule! Throughout the entire build Harry continually exceeded our expectations. We had the fortune of having a typical builder building in the neighborhood a the same time. The difference was obvious.
We are more than satisfied with Ferris Building and Design. We not only have our dream home, which we moved into in February of 2013, we also have new found friends, Harry and Amy that make our life richer.
